Description
Jeff Marek said during the PIT/MTL intermission that the Canes reached out to Dallas about the Swedish blueliner... don't ask me why, but that's the rumor. All I can assume is that it's because Bear and COVID and they think he'll be out a while?

Why do you want Klingberg have you seen his defensive play.

That's why he's partnered with the best defensive defenseman in the NHL

That’s a bit rich for a rental in Klingberg, who’d likely cost $7M or more to retain past this season. Way too much to pay, especially when Bear should be back soon. They also have Keane who could fill in. Plus, I think the Canes will most definitely need 2 out of Drury, Suzuki or Rees on ELCs, just to fill out the roster next year.

Klingberg would be an upgrade, just not sure how it makes sense now. I mean, if they don’t think there’s a chance they keep TDA, then I suppose it makes a bit of sense to be proactive, but it’s a bit early for that.

Yeah, Slavin is pretty freaking good but I wouldn't touch anything for now and what you're giving them is astronomical.

Tbh this would be a solid offer for Klingberg if we were to trade him.

Only thing is that I’d rather get Gunler over Rees or Drury, don’t know his availability too much though.

What I started to think about is if they're looking at another RD man, does that mean Bear is out long term? He obviously tested positive, and the team has said that if a player doesn't feel 100% after COVID or a stint on IR, they're coming out. What worries me is if Bear has suffered a complication

Still, even with complications with Bear, no way I’d pay that much for Klingberg. I’d look at Hamonic or the like if it came to that, or just bring up Keane.

They’d have to send some cap back to Dallas, so likely a current D or roster forward would also need to go back.

Very fair offer. Would love to see Klinger in that system. We really need a RHD back tho

If Klingberg is 50% retained, it's snug, but he fits under. Meaning that they could run a 23 man roster without losing a big piece if Dallas were enticed
