Yeah it’s likely that if price is traded he’ll have 50% retention and likely not fetch nearly as much as some think.

You underestimate GMs in this league, they will trade a ton for a championship. They dont care about futures when they likely wont be at the helm when the pain comes. Ppl here need to stop thinking about their teams best interests. Gms trade to protect their own interests and NOT the team that employs them cough OEL cough

A pick in the expansion is worth something. Not taking him doesn't make him worthless, just not the best option. (The owners wanted him, that was confirmed) It was not an easy decision for the Kraken.
