Description
This post wasn't my original idea the first one who did it was @fatcatz35 where he explored a dahlin trade to detroit (which I didn't hate I just don't think they would move him to a division rival) and I wanted to put a new perspective on it. He talks more about the dahlin situation in buffalo in his post.

No thank you, Dahlin isn't for sale. Especially not for that offer.

Miscommunication on my end but like how @fatcatz35 said in his post this is more of what a trade for dahlin could look like as the sabers don't seem to be very welcome of him right now.

(Basically im not saying the sabers should or will trade dahlin at all but more the fact that he doesn't seem to be wanted there right now and what a trade for him could look like)

As for the deal itself, turrocette is a former top 5 pick and a great talented offensive player which buffalo could add to their arsenal. The second will be high in a stacked draft and the third is always nice to have.

Again as dahlin isn't going to be traded this isn't what his market value is necessarily more of what I think his value should be (which you disagree with which is completely fine I see where your coming from)
but struggling stars out of buffalo don't get massive hauls (like we just saw with eichel) so I wouldn't be shocked if he was ever hypothetically traded (Which he won't be this is a website for hypotheticals)he went for lower than he should be

I think a deal could be done because IMO the Kings have a lot of top forward prospects, while the sabers have a lot of top defensive prospects. Would have to give up more on the kings side tho.

Well that's not what we need. We have a good depth centers in young players. A defender would be a priority in a deal like this.

I guess thats the trick here- is turcotte just a guy to compete for a middle 6 center spot, or is he better? We have our 22 first (im assuming we go center with a top 5 pick), cozens, mittelstadt, krebs, and thompson all fighting for center spots. Im not as psyched about that group as a lot of other sabres fans are. Obviously a few of those guys will end up at wing, but they will have to compete with olofsson, tuch, quinn, peterka, asplund, skinner (for a couple years at least), and maybe a guy like rosen, murray, or weissbach. Sorry for the long reply, im saying "if you dont think turcotte is a #1c on a playoff team, why bother?" You are right though, im just agreeing that if its not a 1c, a very good rhd would be on the short list for me.

Maybe, but I don’t want to give up on Dahlin yet, and I also don’t think Los Angeles will trade Clarke.

I don't see any problems with the attack, even with this roster. We scored almost as many goals as Toronto and Carolina, who are at the top of the table. Our problem is goalies and defensive stability. Our attack scores enough, while we have Eakin, Hinostroza, Hayden, Bjork in our roster. Add Mittelstadt, Tuch, Quinn, Peterka and Krebs and they could have scored even more. Anyway, I would not want to trade Dahlin at this stage, unless it is a very good offer around another young defender, but such trades almost never happen.

Agree with a lot here, remember granato is letting them play more of an open game. They dont have the horses to run and gun, but at least its fun to watch. Its exactly the opposite of what i expected, i expected no offense at all, and a team concept around limiting scoring chances against. I mean its more fun to watch, and guys that are nowhere near being stars are learning to play with confidence. Agreed though, dahlin isnt for sale for anything close to reasonable.

Granato looks like a very interesting coach. Most players progress with him, and obviously he prefers the carrot over the stick, unlike Krueger. Dahlin is 21 years old, he now seems to be in the top 10 or top 15 of the league defenders for successful puck moving, his defense looks better than, for example, Dougie Hamilton at the same age, he makes mistakes and that's okay. He needs to work on his first step, it will help him a lot, Hedman had the same problems with the first step at the beginning of his career, and he changed his training and now his skating looks great. It is of course possible to trade Dahlin now, but only if Granato says that he cannot help him in any way and that the price is correct. But Granato, on the contrary, says that he believes in Rasmus and mistakes are normal, he just needs to be more consistent. Moreover, they are unlikely to be able to find the right deal that would suit Buffalo,
