Minnesota says no. They aren't taking on Some 32 years old C , and a bottom line c with that contract, much less paying this price

      That contract? lol

$3.5m for a 3C who can slot up to 2C in a pinch isn't bad at all. He'd be an upgrade for the Wild's center depth and 2 3rd round picks is pretty cheap considering you'd be fortunate to get 100 NHL games out of those picks which is roughly what you'd get from Eller. If his contract becomes a problem for them in acquiring a top 6 center in the offseason, he has no trade protections and can be thrown in to give the other team a roster player to replace whoever the Wild gets. It's not an awful trade.

Minnesota has a younger better 3c, and 4c in Joel Eriksson ek, and nico sturm right now. So it's a bad deal that he's not needed.

You're conveniently skipping their 1C and 2C. Hartman is playing well, but their options for 2C if you're slotting Ek and Sturm in at 3C and 4C is Gaudreau or Rask. Eller is better than both of them so yes, he'd absolutely be an upgrade for their roster.

They’re going to be selling, then they will, especially if they trade Chiarot

He’s been one of the Capitals’ best defensemen past two years

And Byron will come back from LTIR so we have Byron Lehkonen Perreault Pezzetta too fill the bottom six LW
And you are only giving us a 4th, which holds no value for us. Maybe with a 2nd round pick
