Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 8, 2021
Published: Dec. 8, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I hate to let go of Toffoli, but considering his production, cap hit, and age, I think this is a very good deal for the rangers.
I would have liked to acquire a few more 2nd rd picks as well, but 4 first rd picks should be a very very good start in attaining high end talent that can help this team over the next decade. only one of those picks will be in the top 5 (Habs own pick).
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Koskinen, Mikko
  2. 2022 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Oilers get rid of Koskinen and get a decent 1b in return that is at a very very good cap hit.
2.
MTL
  1. Dumont, Gabriel
  2. 2022 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Consdering the Bolts traded a 1st for Savard, I'm sure they'd be willing to trade a 1st for a player who is much much better than Chiarot.
TBL
  1. Chiarot, Ben ($1,750,000 retained)
3.
MTL
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (WPG)
VAN
  1. Lehkonen, Artturi
Additional Details:
Van's PK is trash. Would they consider a low cost PK who is an RFA after this year?
4.
5.
MTL
  1. Galloway, Tyson [Reserve List]
  2. Sundqvist, Oskar
  3. 2022 1st round pick (STL)

Thanks. It's still not a significant difference though. The most glaring differences are that Allen faces almost twice as many rush chances, while Koskinen gives up a few more rebounds. That just gives Allen more of an edge.

TB unless someone gets hurt around the TDL they aren't going to be making any moves. If they do I see them going after a Manson or klingberg not Chariot

ya which would make a lot more sense on their end. Fully agree,

Nope nope maybe Hedman numbers are much better with Rutta as his Partner than with anyone else. Bogosian has played extremely well here

Bruh… How could you think these bottom pair guys are more valuable than a guy that was playing 30 minutes per game for the Stanley Cup finalist…🤦‍♂️

You mean perhaps the absolutely worst Final team ever? Watch Bogosian he's played really well, and Hedman play better when Rutta is his partner so they aren't giving up a 1for a guy who'd be a 7th defenseman

You're missing the fact that Koskinen faced more expected goals, more high danger shots, more total shots and that those shots were from closer range. And that he stops more pucks.

Rangers/Habs trade is good but the Rangers pass since we cannot afford Toffoli's cap hit next season unless money is retained.

oh yes., the great phil esposito. Any team would be lucky to hire him as GM right now. In fact, why is briesbois the GM of the bolts? you should be protesting against that. in fact, his one opinion should matter more than everyone elses's opinion!

from what GM's are saying, he's worth a first. on an expiring deal, can play top 4 mins, big body, has playoff experience. he can easily fetch a first. david savard fetched more than 1st last year.

And David savard was waaayayyyyayaya better than chirot has ever been. Just because a writer from Montreal said chirots worth a 1st doesn’t mean that’s what gm’s actually think

david savard was always a 6th or 7th d-man at best. you must be dumb deaf and blind to assume he's better than chiarot. but have it your way bud.

Savard was and is one of the best penalty killers in the league and from the beginning of his career up until last year he was one of the best shutdown dman in the league. And even as a rookie he was never a 6th dman loooool. I understand that you know nothing outside of your Montreal bubble but please if you’re going to insult people try to atleast know what you’re talking about

Joel Edmundson, the dude that hasn't played in 5 months (and doesn't seem very likely to play in the next month), will get a 1st AND a valuable roster player AND a prospect?

I wouldn't hold your breath getting that from the Blues, especially from the team that reduced his ice time and made him a healthy scratch in the 2019 SCF on top of taking him to arbitration.

Koskinen > Allen

Like I said, Koskinen is barely ahead. Not even 1.0 shots per 60 difference isn't significant. If you honestly believe Koskinen is the more reliable choice, I'm obviously not going to convince you.
I feel this is more about devaluing Allen than arguing Koskinen is good however. The numbers are close enough that you should be decrying them both if anything.
