OK. Here's a game that people can play if they want where people can pretend to be the GM of a team, and we can make trades and stuff as if it's the offseason (no vegas expansion trades until we get closer to the expansion draft, though you may talk about those trades). You may ask for a team, and i will give you that team if it isn't already taken. My favourite teams are the Rangers and Islanders tied, so i'll be the Islanders. Each person may only be the GM of one team.

I think this might be the first and only time I agree with rangersfan, Karlsson is brutal in his own end with give aways and you cant give the argument about how many blocked shots he had because Kris Russell blocks a ton of shots too. Karlsson is a great talent and maybe top 5 player in the league but not a top 5 Defenseman.

He's not low for me, he's top 20 in the league for me almost definitely. And you call that low? Well first of all he gives the puck away a lot, and he makes more mistakes too.

He means Karlsson, on the offensive side is a top 5 player, but Karlsson on the defensive side isn't a top 5 defenseman.

The problem is with the classification we use for the position. Defencemen by definition are supposed to be defensive. Players like Karlsson show that being strong offensively in the position can be just as effective as being strong defensively. What good is a super strong defensive dman if you can't score some points? What good is an offensive dman if you can't defend against the opposition? The best dmen are the ones who are able to master both sides of the spectrum.

Karlsson is definitely better offensively, but his defensive game isn't that bad either. In a game of just defending, he is not in the top 5 in the league. In the NHL however, he is by far top 5 in the league. Saying otherwise is silly.

Oh got it. Makes more sense now. Yeah his defensive side doesn't get the attention it deserves, escpesially this season.
