OK. Here's a game that people can play if they want where people can pretend to be the GM of a team, and we can make trades and stuff as if it's the offseason (no vegas expansion trades until we get closer to the expansion draft, though you may talk about those trades). You may ask for a team, and i will give you that team if it isn't already taken. My favourite teams are the Rangers and Islanders tied, so i'll be the Islanders. Each person may only be the GM of one team.
Here is the list of GMs (i will update it when someone claims a team):

I don't want to clutter the trade thread with this for Toronto ...

Isn't Horton's contract a moot point for a team that has the money to waste? It's full relief right, or am I missing something?

Toronto has $8.3M buried in the minors coming off this season. (edited this, I was still stuck in 17/18 mode Sticking Out Tongue)

Soooo does NobodyCares get Toronto's 2nd round pick for compensation? wink

*clearly since I had to send my 2nd for torts, Toronto should send a 2nd for bman*
#sarcasm

You deserve that and more for signing Torts. Though I have to admit, it seems to be working out well and he's been more low key.

However, is it okay if we keep the trades already made by the former leafs GM?

No. I responded there when someone figured it out. I was looking at default and not your custom roster. (16/17 instead of 17/18) You're good. I just thought you had more cap space coming, but it's already reflected there.

To everyone else, I am still curious about the LTIR thing. It is full relief for a player never returning, correct?
Mostly wondering if it isn't easier to LTIR without the cap retention for those players that are basically retired, for display purposes.

When he said Aho and Faulk... You should have jumped at that...Staal is overpaid and old...Aho is close in value to Nylander on his own...

Yes red or green name means it's a site moderator. I'm not sure about exact numbers, but the GM game has clearly increased the forum activity.

Well it would start with reporting a post. We don't look at every Arm-Chair gm. If you report it, we will see it right away and we will decide if an infraction needs to be added to the account.

I think I figured out what was missing. You can't use LTIR during the off season, and can only exceed the cap by 10% during that time.
So with the leafs having roughly $10M in contracts back on the books during that time, and the upper limit being 83.6, they would be $2.4M over the cap if they reached $76M through trades/signings.
They effectively have a $73.6M cap ceiling. If you factor in the ~$3M in buyouts, even less to work with for current contracts.

Ltir doesn't work until you exceed the cap...Once you exceed the cap ltir relief is factored for the cap overage...So if you have a 5 mill contract to put on ltir it doesn't come off the cap until you exceed the cap ...

That's not correct either. Overages and LTIR are not overly related.
Overages occur when players hit performance bonuses and the total amount of accrued bonuses exceeds the cap. The amount exceeding will be an overage penalty for next season.

LTI relief occurs when a team is very close to the cap limit. They can place a long term injured player on LTIR and get a cap relief. They don't always get the entire cap hit as a relief. For example- if a team is $1M below the cap limit and place a player with a $5M cap hit on LTIR. That team will now get $4M relief to exceed the cap limit.

There's more examples and a better detailed description of LTIR in the CBA FAQ LTIR page that I linked above.

Let me know if you have any other questions about LTIR and I can answer them

Are we holding the draft as soon as the season is done and just reverse the standings for draft position, or are we following lottery rules?

What do people think about the Nylander trade????
