Everyone has to wait until July 1 to do an offer sheet, because that is when they officially become RFAs. Right now, Edmonton is the only one who can talk to Draisaitl.
Look, Scheifele signed a long term deal for his 2nd contract @ $6.125 per...Draisaitl has been better than Scheifele so I say, sure sign Drai to 8 years but it better be $6.5 to 7 per

but draisaitl has huge incentive to take a cut and make edmonton a real cup contender and maybe even win one

unlike scheifele, when winnipeg didn't have a group of stars like edmonton does

And without Drai, how are EDM chances? He holds the cards and his agent is going to look at similar deals. The only reason you are trying to get him at $6 per is because you know you have to sign McDavid to like $10 per next year and will be up against the cap.
This is why all this isn't going to work...nobody can determine what a UFA or RFA is going to do. A bottom feeding team could offer Jumbo Joe $10 for 1 year but what are the odds he takes it...slim to none. The only way to do this is by not allowing offer sheets and using similar deals to determine RFA signings of big players.
Yes! I agree.
The fact that I'm agreeing to this means it's a good idea. Or I could just have said F U and signed like everyone. I'm Arizona BTW.
Alright, i gave you the bruins.
Now a quick question: what is your offer for Nikolay Kulemin?
Probably something like Jimmy Hayes straight up if you retain 50% of Kulemin's salary. Basically we don't need Kulemin and we feel he's overpaid. Maybe you could pry Matt Beleskey away from us for him, but that'd be the absolute most and I'd only really do it because Beleskey has 3 more years left on his deal and Kulemin only has 1. They make about the same amount of money and both underachieved this year. I see Kulemin with negative value so the most I'd offer is one of our guys with negative value / no value. Maybe if you retain 50% and add a decent prospect I'd trade you Adam McQuaid. He could be a really good #6 RHD for your team and I don't think my team really needs both him and Kevan Miller. However if I made the trade and then Vegas took Kevan Miller, I'd be kinda screwed unless Charlie McAvoy was ready next season. I guess to summarize it, we really aren't interested in your lower class players unless they are young and getting better.
