Love that kid. But I'd rather see this after the season. Kerfoot is meshing too well on the Tavares line to screw with the chemistry

I don’t think they would retain salary on Oleksiak; his contract isn’t awful to begin with. Idk if the leafs are ready to trade Kerfoot, but the trade in itself is pretty solidz

My thinking was, pay a little extra to get a little retention on his salary, that way your not paying another 4+ million on a second pair defenseman. And if he doesn't play at the level he needs to through his whole contract, it will be easier to move. And Seattle has the cap space to make that happen. Also, I know Kerfoot is playing well with JT, but defense is still a MAJOR issue and will be if it doesn't change going into the playoffs, we have guys that can fill Kerfoots role and his value has probably never been higher as a Leaf.
