It'll be tough to move Karlsson or Dadonov, but I can't see VGK moving Marchessault. Especially not for this. I imagine they'd rather waive Dadonov in order to keep Marchy.

Are you saying that Vegas is trading both Smith and Marchessault? This is the team that convinced the Rangers to pay a 3rd for Reaves, lost Schmidt for nothing and played with a 20 or less man roster rather than giving up a1st/2nd to trade Fleury. Vegas isn't trading Marchessault.

While I don't think they'll trade Marchessault, waiving Dadonov will only save $1.125M. They need to clear way more $.

A healthy VGS is almost 7mil over the cap, and its been said many times on radio and in print that McNabb and one of Smith or Dandanov have to be moved. (Smith and McNabb are more likely, but are UFAs)

The only probelm with Marchessault is his NTC.

In trade VGS is working from a weak position because they cant take back a roster player and cant retain salary. AND most teams looking to acquire those two UFAs will be contenders who do not have the cap space to acquire them.

So in all likelihood, VGS gets next to nothing for them, maybe a 2nd/maybe a 3rd, but why and from who if its not a contender?

This was the "unseen"/unacknowledged cost of the eichel trade. That the team depth would take a hit.

Oilers would have to move some cap around elsewhere to make this work but a 2nd for Debrusk seems worth a gamble, especially with the retained salary.
