Overpay for Kessell even with the retention.

Kessel is a fraction of the player he once was. Max he’s getting is a 2nd.

Donskoi has zero goals this season. What’s the appeal especially at that cost?

Devils probably accept, especially if a sweetener were added.
We cannot take advantage of Bernier's LTIR relief

AARI don't need to move Kessel, honestly somebody will pay a 1st for the retention and he has the acumen that Holland will over pay for without a doubt. Out of all the player potentially available this is likely our best option.

Donskoi has the potential to really turn it around and I think he would be better suited playing EDM style (Quick transition, better puck moving defenseman) similar to COL . He has term and as a middle 6 with top 6 potential for a win now team thats going to be the cost plus Ron Francis and Holland are buddies so Ken will want to help him out.

I mean Kessel is an UFA I believe, so they will do all that they can to move him. So its not going to be a matter of overpay or you aren't getting him. (thats more the situation with Chychrun. For a guy who is not great defensively and nothing crazy special offensively anymore, I don't see him getting a 1st, but I guess we'll see.

The thing is Donskoi isn't good enough to justify taking that risk. A few more years at $3.9M is a pretty steep contract for a guy with no goals. Better options out there, especially at a cost of a 2nd and a good prospect.

I mean maybe im just basing this off of previous moves and Hollands track record (2 seconds for AA/Keith trade) He does over pay for over the hill players.

Maybe Donskoi isnt the ideal traget i feel he will certainly be available and likely more impact for our win now window than Lavoie. who would you like to see them Target? I would be interested in bringing back Ebs too. seeing him come full circle would be cool but same steep contract.

You certainly aren’t wrong is Holland’s ability to get good value in trades. But as a fan trying to look at is as market-wide value, I think a 1st too much.

I haven’t given it that much thought. But I thought a player like Namestnikov would be a nice add for 3C. If you’re looking at a winger, that price point is probably slightly higher than DeBrusk or slightly lower than a Toffoli. I’d rather have either of those guys that Donskoi. Eberle was a pretty big disappointment at the end of his tenure here. Not crazy about going after him as he isn’t a great skater to keep up with your quick top 9. With the right retention and value I wouldn’t close the door though
