I think you forgot to include Holloway in that trade; a bunch of cap dumps, Broberg, and draft capital won't get you Chychrun, Kessel half retention, and boyd is a toss in. I think if Holloway is included in that package Arizona considers that package.

Well, I'm of the opposite opinion. IF the Coyotes want to trade Chychrun, then this is the deal they should make. Broberg, the 2022 picks and the 2023 first seems like fair value for Chychrun to me, and that leaves the first, Kassian, Koskinen and Ryan for Kessel and Boyd. If anything, that aspect of the trade favors Arizona.

The issue is whether Arizona wants to tear the house down to the studs, or build around Schmaltz, Keller, Guenther, Chychrun and Soderstrom. It seems to me that you can't build up a team completely from scratch, so I wouldn't trade Chychrun at all. But this is a well-considered and valued deal.

The asks for chychrun are getting out of touch with reality. There is no way edmonton will trade Broberg, 3 firsts and all their best forward prospects for a dman. They could get a top rental dman every year for 3 years with that haul and then Broberg comes of age and they have cost certainty. Any dman who is supposedly that good they will not be able to re-sign so it is assured that edmonton starts the rebuild again after chychrun's contract expires. Generally speaking you have to draft the type of dman that they need at the top of the draft if you want to hold onto him for any amount of time. Edmonton is still mid rebuild and they havent filled out all their wings yet so they cant make these kind of all or nothing moves.
