So the "go for it now" Leafs acquired a worse LW and Dman from Arizona and give up a pick too? Ritchie can be get rid cheaper in the offseason

That’s the offer it would take to move Lehky
A 2nd doesn’t do it and we are taking Ritchie as a cap dump

I've said it before, I'd rather keep Lehkonen than acquire a 2nd. As long as he isn't given a Byron/Armia contract, he's worth keeping.
If you didn't read, Lehkonen's xGA and xSA are bested only by the perfection line and he's leagues ahead of his teammates despite their play.

don't get me wrong I really like Lehkonen. I was simply saying that this isn't the move for the leafs especially moving a first. If we don't get a first for Lehkonen then obviously we should keep him. but the perfect team scenario would need to unfold for someone to move a first, they must think that adding a Lehkonen to a shut down line throws them over the top which is certainly not the case for Toronto

I'm not saying he's worth a 1st. He's still a bottom 6 player. As amazing as he is defensively, you simply don't give up 1st round picks for role players.
I would consider a prospect or equivalent player in a position of need. Somebody who has already shown potential to be an NHL player. If he's only returning a pick, keep him at least until we see where the team is at next year, then trade him for a pick if necessary.

TBL moved 3 first rounders for bottom six player and they won 2 Cups in a row … just saying

I agree. Which is why the leafs are not touching this trade.
