OK.

That Barrie deal is horrendous for the Islanders. Mayfield's abilities and contract make him almost untouchable, unless you move a guy like Broberg. That may catch Lou's attention. Where I agree there is a fit for Barrie on the Island, it won't be at the cost of Mayfield..... you can bank on that.

2. Why move a first with Koskinen? You are getting the Islanders out of the last year of Varlamov's contract. Oilers get a nominal upgrade, Lou gets $5 million in cap space. That deal is straight up, if it isn't the Islanders throwing in a little salary retention.

3. The Kane deal has value, but it begs the question.... do you want that cancer in your dressing room?

His antics have led to his being moved from two organizations....... one of them being Buffalo!

Taking the risk on Kane is one thing, moving Lavoie for that risk? I dunno.

Oilers should not be trading for Kane, especially for that price. Varlamov trade is good for both sides, Islanders could probably get a B prospect too. Islanders would not do that Barrie trade

Idk what youre smoking.

1- mayfields contract is great and does give him value but at best he gets a late 1st (like savard and potentially chiarot). But practically untouchable???? C'mon man.

2- you arent getting the islanders out of anything, what you are saying is that varlamov is a cap dump which is kind of delusional. Has he had the greatest start to the season? No. But is he a cap dump? Absolutely not.

3- i agree with everything you said on kane except if im not mistaken he was moved from 3 teams bc of his antics not including the sharks where hes alienated the locker room.

My original idea was to have the NYI trade as one big trade, but split it into two. I feel the first is to much for Varlamov, but Mayfield and cap dump for Barrie needed more.

In regards to Kane, I think he is in last chance territory now and will be on his best behavior now or his bookies will likely kneecap him.

Kane is way past his last chance. Hes destroyed the locker rooms in atlanta, buffalo, winnipeg and now san jose. Then you get the problem that hes signed to a 7m aav long term. Nobodys touching him for anything over league minimum imo.

As for the islander trades, the 1st is probably too much but since theyd have him for 2 playoff runs its probably something like 2 2nds and koskinen for varly.
The mayfield trade is a comolete disaster. The isles have cap space so theres no need to move clutter. Especially as i highly doubt lou considers cal a cap dump. Either way a 50% retained clutterbuck will bring back positive value for sure.
Now mayfield (like i said before) is in the savard/chiarot area. Trading him for barrie who is not a good player and who has a big contract is a bad idea.

The Clutterbuck portion was just to even out money on the deal. He is not a need right now. The thing i was looking at is that Barrie is a very good offensive defenseman and is an elite PP defenseman that could really fill a need. There is a lot of good defensive guys in your core already so Barrie would bring good offence at the cost a 5/6 d-man.
