That's a terrible return for Seabrook.

LOL, I'm a Hawks fan, I think Seabrook is worth more too value wise. You know what tho? seems when it comes to his "realistic" value some complain.

I edited the trade..... Seabrook & Knott for JVR....

It's the contract that scares most teams away from seabrook I think. No question of his current value or talent

Agree...it's the contract that scares people off and affects his perceived value.

The Leafs need a top 4 Dman like yesterday. I don't see many teams willing to give up a young top 4 for anything less than one of the leafs good young players going the other way, and I doubt that is something the fans want to see. I suppose the Leafs could go the UFA route but there aren't and top 4 defenseman besides Markov, and he's not leaving Montreal. Shattenkirk is the other one, and he's going to want 7+ per which would be more than Seabrook and certainly longer...

The Leafs are kinda limited when it comes to top 4 defenseman that could be moved without overpayment.

Seabrook should be productive for at least 3 more years, if not 4 and by that time the Leafs could just buy him out or dump him with a prospect for something. And from a Leafs perspective I think it's worth it for the few years of productivity Seabrook could provide...

JVR for Seabrook seems okay for a return given his contract.

But for the LOVE OF GOD people, Michael Stone is not a top defenseman. Just as TVR is not a top defenseman. They are both good #5's

Seabrook isn't getting traded. I know a lot of people hate his contract, but the fact is he's the vocal leader of this team. If not for Toews, he'd be the captain. Also, I would switch the Kempney/Jurco cap hits you suggested, and I don't see any way that both Darling AND Crawford are on the same team going forward; one of them will be gone.
