You could probably get a better return on Klingberg

Why are you giving away Faksa for only a fourth? Just if he was right handed, and we had the cap.. in my opinion, he’s very good for a 3c. Also, can we take the fourth, and Kiviranta out of the trade? If so, getting a better goalie in Holtby, and a depth guy in Raffl, I think we would have to accept, if we want to make the playoffs and go far.

I went conservative considering he’s having a down year. If Nill gets first round picks for Pavs and Klinger along with some other pieces I would consider the TDL a win

Faksa is over paid and overrated. He doesn’t use his size any more so Glendening does the same job for cheaper. I’d be fine with taking Kivi and the fourth out of the deal. Just figured he might be an upgrade in a different system over some of the other depth players in Edmonton. I think Raffl and Holtby would be good adds for the Oilers

With him only having 2 points thus far, we won’t need him. If he had more I would definitely want him! Most of our depth guys have more than 2 points. I agree about Holtby, and Raffl.

Klingberg is a bad fit for Toronto. He's not going to get the offensive opportunities that would make this kind of price worthwhile and might not even have time on the 1st PP unit. They need the guy who's PKing rather than the one who quarterbacks the PP.

A big NO Thanks from the Rangers for me. Not trading a 1st round pick for an aging rental, no matter how much I like Pavelski.

Klingberg could be a nice target for Florida. Their PP is not that good surprisingly. And, this is a must year for them to make a deep PO run.

I’d be fine with that as well. Maybe one of their forward prospects and a second

He would be dynamite for the Rangers. Perfect fit for the young talent and play style. Well worth a first and a prospect. We can agree to disagree tho

I think he would do better with better line mates in a more offensive system, but again taking him and the fourth out wouldn’t keep me up at night

That’s fair. Klinger to Toronto has just been popular on here for a while now and I’d like to see him go somewhere with some juicy forward talent and a more aggressive system. But not Rado. Rado doesn’t deserve any more nice things lmao

Owen Tippett and a second round pick? Second round pick could turn into a first if they go on the SC finals or if Klingberg signs with them?

I thought about them too, but I’m not sure if they’d want him knowing that they can’t sign him next year.

Because they’ve got the enticing pieces, and a lot of them.

Yeah, they would need to move pieces if they wanted to sign him.

I know Pavelski well having him watched him play for the Sharks for years, and would have no problem with him as a rental for this year, but NOT at that cost. No way I give a first round pick. A prospect and a 3rd round, maybe or just a 2nd round pick. If that's not enough, keep him and trade him elsewhere.

You are entitled to your opinion, of course. But if you look at the history of « rental price » of that caliber level, a first round pick is the starting point of discussion. This, regardless of age since the players in question are usually UFA after the season.

If you have a legit chance to go all the way this year with help from a player like Pavelski, I am pretty sure that your GM would not hesitate to pull the trigger. You never know if in the following years you will get a similar chance. Injuries, for example, can ruin a season.

Not disagreeing with any of what you said above. The point I am making is Pavelski has less value to the Rangers than he does to other teams because of Chris Kreider. Pavelski is really good in front of the net and on the PP, but he won't get that ice time with the Rangers because Kreider has that job sewn up on the 1st PP unit and their 1st PP unit probably averages 1:30 of every 2:00 minutes, and sometimes they don't even leave the ice. I like Joe, and if he were younger and they could afford him, I would love to have him, but at this point in time, with the team the Rangers have, he isn't worth a 1st round pick as a rental....IMO. They would be better served going after Reilly Smith.

Quite frankly, I'm fine with Rangers making no additions and keep letting the kids play. It will only pay off down the road.

What does Reilly Smith do that Joe Pavelski doesn’t do?
