Canucks aren't giving up that package to bring in Klingberg, and none of Klingberg, McNabb, or Motte is signing one year deals on their next contracts

i just forgot to change the years on the contracts, what would be a fair package for Klingberg? we are giving up 2 cap dumps maybe a 2nd instead of a 1st?

Canucks GM said they aren't trading any high draft picks right now. Also, Klingberg will likely be asking for more money than you are giving him, he would have to take a fairly team friendly contract for Vancouver to fit him under their cap, and he likely wants more term than they are comfortable giving him, plus he's already 30 years old

He's looking for about a 7mill a year deal i gave him 6 since he is having a down year. Don't think he will sign an 8 year deal either. the old JB special of a 6x6 should do it as i think his game can still be played at a good level at 36. i know JR said that but let's be honest there is countless examples of GM's going back on what they said Klingberg isn't that old he is 29 (30this summer) he still has a good 3.5 years left of prime hockey in him, he is only a year older then Miller. as suggested in my other comment a 2nd instead of a 1st is almost a no brainer for us. he is a legit top 4 RHD on 95% of the leagues d-cores still. RHD is a big need for us. he is a fine 2 way player we don't need a strictly chris tanev esc dman

He was looking $8M+ from the Stars. That number is closer to $9M in Canada. Not saying he's worth that, but if he agreed to $7M I think Dallas would've kept him.

Probably. Personally though, I wouldn't give Klingberg more than 7.25M on a long-term deal

They guy is going to be 30 when he's UFA eligible. Klinger is crazy if he thinks he has enough leverage to ask for $8-9 million AAV long-term

Reports said he wanted $62-66 mil total on a 7-8 year extension with the Stars. DAL wouldn't cave in to those demands. This was at the very beginning of the season started to I'm not fully sure is he still after such numbers but I gotta imagine they haven't dropped much as his and Stars' negotiations hit a brick wall.

Dallas doesn't even know how much longer they are going to be competitive they're so old already lol, who knows if re-signing Klingberg long-term is even the best thing for themselves

It's not, but it's better than losing him for free or moving him dirt cheap.

As for this trade suggestion, I'm not a huge fan. Taking two cap dumps is not in the plans.

Poolman and Hamonic aren't really cap dumps but obviously neither of them have much value especially compared to Klingberg

For us they are. Both are overpaid 3rd pair D-men, and we already have Hakanpää in that role.

Not overpaid by that much, and I would argue both of them are better than Hakanpaa, cause he's overpaid too

Well that's where I disagree completely, but I think we've had that discussion already.

When the hell have we done that? Poolman and Hamonic might be slightly overpaid, but they are still both very effective 3rd pair guys. Hakanpaa isn't a great skater or puck mover but he's physical
