Ottawa has no interest in Kessel and Kessel has no interest in Ottawa.

Try again.

Kessel's contract ends this year. Why would your "super senators fan" give up 2 draft picks for Kessel to finish the season with a team that will be in the league bottom 5?

If Dorion trades anything for a pending UFA he should be shot

With the intention of keeping him... yeah

But Kessel has an 8M cap hit, and only 1M in true salary.

OTT should retain 50% of Kessels cap hit (only spend <1M in actual cash) and flip him to a contender.

Now 2 high second round picks is too much, but there is an opportunity for arbitrage here

If the point of acquiring him is to flip him back out then it would need to be done for wayyy less than two 2nds. Even with money retained I’m not sure Ottawa would be able to get bites on Kessel for more than that.

I wouldn’t touch this deal at all. Whatever sens fan you were talking to was lying lol.

The Sens aren't acquiring him to flip him though in that type of deal, they'd be acting as an intermediary

Kessel has cup winning experience and 25 in 35 on the worst team in the league. He would absolutely be able to get a nice return. As I said, two high seconds is too much, but I was just explaining to the guy who said *never*
