no, i watch lots of teams play. Romanov is not playing better than a single leafs defender right now. He's been awful. Utterly utterly awful. The fact you think both he and chariot are haveing good seasons is very telling. These guys are by far the habs worse defenders.
It's crazy how habs fans keep insisting their defenders are SO much better than the leafs when the leafs are currently a top 5 defensive team in the league and the habs are a lotto team from the top down. The habs are bad because their players are bad, especially the ones playing a lot like chariot and Romanov. Justin Holl would be the Habs best defender .

This is taking everything out of context. I would upgrade over Holl if the price is right. However to say he gets exposed every night is awfully silly. Toronto is a top 3 team defensively this season. Not in their division but in the entire league. So if the weakest member to the defence is playing top 4 minutes and helping the team to being top 3 defensively than perhaps he's not bad. If he was getting exposed, he'd be a minus player and the team would get scored on a lot. Which is factually not the case at all. Your logic is absent of reality.

Romanov is a bottom pair defender on one of the worst defensive teams in the league. That easily makes him a non roster player for most good teams. The Leafs have 7 defenceman ahead of him. I can say that because TO is a top 3 team defensively. A bottom pair guy on a bad team isn't a top 4 guy on a good team. Just like a 4th liner on a bad team isn't a top 6 you on a good team. Many top 6 players on bad teams would have trouble sticking in lineup on good teams. Romanov is massively overrated here.

What's it like still living the dead puck era? Do you spend your weekends watching Rock em sock em vhs's and wishing if you wouldn't have hurt your shoulder back in 82 you would have shown all these soft players how a man plays? Just living in the past.

Then why do you guys get wrecked all the time? Weird how your best defenceman would be top guys on all other teams and yet can't keep the puck out of your own net. Not sure you understand how the game works.

I think he's got a lot of talent but he's definitely overrated right now. He's not part of the answer in Arizona why would he be the answer elsewhere? But this is how this site works. Everyone is bias but tell themselves they aren't. So how people see stuff on here is already flawed big time. On top of that 60-75% of this site is populated by people who hate the leafs as much or more than they hate their own team. Which makes matters much worse. Then there is the mob think that influences everything as well. For example, it's still a common accepted truth that TO's defence sucks, bottom half of the league for sure. That despite them being 3rd overall in goals against per game.

So this is why you have the majority of people on here saying ridiculous stuff all the time. Like Romanov is a legit top 4 defenceman. He's a decent young player on a downright terrible team, he's not some saviour, if he was the results would be better. He has talent and some upside but hasn't proven much at all. If he was on a better team, he may not even be in the lineup because better teams have better players.

This is why Sandin and Liljegren are only playing 3rd pair minutes or rotating in and out. Most other teams don't have guys like Rielly, Muzzin, Brodie ahead of their young guys. Who does Montreal have? Chiarot? He likely wouldn't make the Leafs unless Keefe wanted a big slow PK guy on the 3rd pair. I know you'll go off saying Holl is a 7th defenceman and yes he did struggle for a bit there but he's rebounded and has played much better as of late. If Holl was a 7th defenceman on any other team, why is TO a top 3 team defensively? That notion just doesn't balance with the results.

Just as saying Romanov is a legit top 4 defender on any team is ridiculous. The results show something completely different. But as I mentioned, reality doesn't matter much here. Just mob think and bias. So hab fans will continue to say Romanov is an all-star and worth insane prices because they like him a lot....mainly because there is nothing else to like on their team right now.

Romanov is a 3rd pair guy in TO if he beat out Liljegren but I am not sure he would.

If he were in Toronto, he would be behind Reilly, Brodie, usually Muzzin although he’s been pretty awful this year. He would be above Holl, Tim and Sandin especially given what he brings.

Remember when Montreal took him early on in the second round and everyone was like 'Who?'?
