Description

Right now, the COVID protocols in the NHL vary. In Canada, a player has to quarantine for 10 days if testing positive while it's a 5 day quarantine in the United States.

Let's fast forward to the playoffs and have a hypothetical here.

In the United States, your #1 G tests positive:

Your best case scenario is a 5 day quarantine and back to the team, misses 2 games (Day 2 and Day 4 are game days).

Your worst case scenario is a 5 day quarantine and back to the team, misses 3 games (Day 1, Day 3, and Day 5 are game days).

In Canada, your #1 G tests positive:

Your best case scenario is the quarantine time is reduced before this happens.

Your worst case scenario is a 10 day quarantine and back to the team missing up to 5 games.

While I hope these rules change, we ultimately have no idea what the future holds or what policymakers may decide.

Pretty sure quarantine for asymptomatic in Canada is 5 days.

It varies by Province, I believe some provinces are still at 10 days.

Fleury is a starter, the entire point of this post is NHL teams should realize the unprecedented situation we're in where it's possible another wave of COVID occurs around playoff time and load up on depth.

Yah, the point of the post was a wildly unrealistic event that would cause the drastic increase in the price of a back up goalie who would have to step in and become the number 1. We get it. He is still a back up.
