2022 first overall pick trade

Created by: MTLaveragefan

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 26, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Should the habs win the lottery and get to pick first Overall.

I believe a trade down could be an attractive option.

I believe habs would be better off with one pick in the top 10 and a second in the 20-30 range.

I have Arizona in mind as they have more than one pick, but it could be another team looking for a good center in Wright.

I would draft Nemec or the other RD.

We have a strong LD... but right now the RD is not looking good.... I don't want to spend the next decade looking for a RD. Like we did for a LHD during Weber's tenure.

Lets have a great top 4 in D with Romanov, Ghule, Harris, Mailloux and Nemec. We have Suzuki has #1C and Dvorak/Poehling for #2C. Lets run with those for now - and wingers are always available in UFA and in the draft - more chance to find a stud in late rounds for forwards.

Stay at #1. Take Cooley. Much higher ceiling than Wright.

Maybe - but I rather have Nemec and another 1st rounder.

Red Wings hope is that Edvinsson and Seider will form a dominant defense pair for a long time. 👍

After a long rebuilt, y'all deserve it.

I hate to see original six teams going through that.

Thanks. After years of Ken Holland running the Red Wings into the ground it's taken Yzerman a few years to clean up his mess. He's slowly building things up again the right way in stages. Mainly through the draft. I think we're 3 years away from being contenders again.

Its a good idea. But logistically challenging
Other than Columbus, hard to imagine any other team would have two 1sts that would be worthwhile.
They are #8 and #9 I think. I bet Nemec gone by #5.

We'll have to see who has the 1st round picks after the trade deadline - a few teams could end up with more picks.

2023 picks could also be an option.

Ah their is confusion indeed - the Chariot trade is not applied to DET - its a separate trade.

Ok then what is going to Detroit for their 1st and a prospect?

There must be some confusion. Isn’t OP saying Montreal gets first overall and then trades down with Detroit? So I’m saying I’d do Detroit 1st + Cossa for essentially Wright.

First overall to select whoever they want. I wouldn’t do Edvinsson and I’m iffy on Cossa. Just really depends on where Detroits pick lands. I don’t think there is a clear distinction in those first 11 picks to be honest but I’d prefer to get someone that could be that high end center. Having a core of Larkin + that pick at center and then our young defenders seems enticing.

WOW! Now that you pointed that out it makes perfect sense and I can't believe I messed that up. Sorry about that.

Detroit could actually end up with the best player in each of the last 3 drafts without a top 3 pick.
