They may be able to get a 3rd out of Pit for Halak if they retain but I don't think the 5th is necessary.

They need to focus on resigning motte. He's such a valuable player for them would hate to move him and see him sign elsewhere next season.

Let's take whatever we can get for Chaisson, sure.

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone is going to take Poolman off our hands when guys at league min can do the same thing as him.

Retaining on Halak is pointless - then they're on the hook for half his bonus anyways.

Poolman is a boat anchor, no-one is taking him without a significant sweetener.

Yep Halak retention doesn't make any sense. They can create the space by sending DeSmith to the minors.

That's way more than any team will pay for a 4th liner like Motte. Pass.

Poolman has performed at above league minimum value, Vancouver doesn't need to pay to get rid of him, I don't know how many times I have to tell people this. He also isn't really a downgrade on Soucy, plus it turns out Seattle isn't that deep on defense after all

Nothing wrong with Carolina declining that trade, but you sound somewhat oblivious to the trade market from other teams standpoints

Then trade him to another team, there's no reason to be paying that much for a 4th liner/extra forward

Other fanbases will disagree and say that there are exceptions to that status quo on the trade market, and that Motte is one of them

If you think he's worth that, extend him. Becuase you aren't getting that for a 4th line guy. Find me one time in the current market a 4th liner has been traded for that much.

Who is playing 2nd line minutes with Reinhart out. Next. And he was a 3rd liner in Calgary, not a 4th liner.

No, Bennett's numbers toward the end of his time in Calgary were closer to 4th line caliber than 3rd line caliber, that's where his value was at when he got traded, Florida made a massive role of the dice betting on him

Look, you can disagree all you want with the takes, but everyone is trading 3rd and 2nd round picks for Motte in ACGM's and trade proposals because they recognize that Motte has relatively high stock for his caliber, that's just the reality like I said

Then he won't get moved. That's quite simple. No team will pay that for a 4th liner/extra forward, that's just the reality, like I said.

Except, I'm not living under a rock. It's someone who is given access to genuine NHL trade rumors through their work, against some users of a website predicting trades.

If I could, I would bet you $100 that if Motte gets moved at the trade deadline, he fetches a 3rd round pick minimum

I'd take that bet. With his full contract being moved (I.E, no retention) he won't get more than a 4th,
