From an outsider's POV it makes sense. Florida has a logjam at both wings and could use help with their back end. Maybe a pick swap makes more sense than adding an extra prospect. Tippett + 3rd for Stanley + 2nd?

He hasn't demonstrated that ability. He has been sheltered on the 3rd pair all of last year and this year. On the few occasions when he played higher (due to injuries), it wasn't pretty.

With the right partner. He was always assumed as a defensive defender and he really isn’t. He is a great puck mover, great first pass, good vision and has shown good patience. He needs to hone in on his shot. Put him with a defensive minded guy and I think he would handle T4 just fine.
