Description
Unless Steve works another blockbuster trade with Tyler Bertuzzi I expect a quieter deadline this year.

DET
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (BOS)
BOS
  1. Namestnikov, Vladislav ($1,000,000 retained)

Seems about right although names might resign. Leddy trade is a disappointing reality, I was expecting more from him.

Not bad.

I think we probably get a 3rd for Vlad, but it would be nice if that rises to a 2nd if a bunch of teams have interest. I'm not really sure Gagner has any value, like you said, maybe a team looking for a depth RH forward, but I don't think he's traded. Stecher is an interesting one considering he's barely played this year, but hopefully we get a 4th/5th for him.

Leddy for a 3rd with salary retention sounds about right. Unfortunately, I don't see there being too much interest in our UFAs...

Hopefully somebody wants Staal, but he has a no movement cluse, so he's likely not going anywhere. I sure hope Yzerman does not offer him a contract this offseason, he is not mobile enough to play in today's league.

I've been seeing a lot of Stetcher to the Pens trades. Right now I think the only real move the Pens make is to upgrade their backup situation. Could they make a depth move or two? Sure, but right now they have Friedman and Riikola who've both performed very well when called upon, and they have POJ who's pretty much NHL-ready.

That said, I think the value is fair.

While I love vladdy he will become a victim of our forward pipeline. There are not enough spots for him. Berggren is coming up soon and with Vrana back that would push him or zadina out of the top 9 and the organization is not going to bury zadina there. That is not including veleno.

Vladdy would be wasted on the fourth line and has earned better, but his age will mean the players who will be part of the future will be prioritized imo.

I still think he can net a 2nd but it’s a 50/50. The thing is he is a coaches’ wet dream for the playoffs. The guy is incredibly flexible and defensively responsible. He’s only a -1 on a team that has a -32 differential, pots in goals, and PKs like a champion. And with retention his contract is 1m pro rated.

I agree with everything but your comments on Staal. While he may not look like a star out there, he's still very good in the defensive end and is perhaps the best defensive defenseman on the team. Fun Fact: He's our third best defenseman by point shares behind Seider and Hronek, and he's produced the most defensive point shares out of anybody on the team, with 2.1 DPS. While point shares aren't a perfect stat, the fact that the only other player in his ballpark is Moritz Seider has to mean something. Not to mention a +8 rating (again, not a perfect stat but impressive considering the majority of the team is deep into the negatives). It sounds like he's been a good veteran for the team as well, he's enjoying playing with the Wings, and the team enjoys having him around. While Marc Staal has never been a significant threat in the offensive zone, he plays an underappreciated defensive game that makes him our best LD available. I'd re-sign him for one more year at least.
