The Wild could definitely use Brock Nelson. But, his cap hit, the way Fiala is playing right now, and the Wild not changing anything right now, are the factors in the Wild saying no to this deal. Come off season you could have a possibility.

It is an interesting idea, but I don't think we should do it. Nelson is a fine player, decent 2C on a contender, but Fiala goes on these stretches where he looks like one of the best players in the NHL (he's in one right now with 9 goals and 16 points in his last 12 games). Nelson doesn't have that in him.

Nelsons currently at a .5 goals per game this season. Thats roughly 40 goals over a full season.

My thing with Fiala is he's basically played on a line by himself for most of his time with the Wild and he finally has a linemate who he can play with so I'd LOVE for them to be able to keep him and Boldy together. Kaprizov/Zucc, Boldy/Fiala... is this the first time the team has had 2 legit scoring duos?

In the summer it can be discussed, but not during the season.

I'm not arguing Nelson isn't a good player, he is. But Fiala has a dynamic game-changing element that Nelson lacks and I hesitate greatly to give that up, especially when he finally has found a linemate that he gels with in Boldy. Fiala's entire production while he has been with the Wild has been almost entirely with bottom 6 guys, outside of the half a season he played with Staal in 2019, and he still has managed to score at the rate of a really good top 6 guy.

We also aren't starved for goals, we're sitting at 3.83 goals per game which ranks third in the NHL behind Colorado and Florida.

My point with nelson is that youre very mistaken. He can 100% take over games by himself. Hes done it time and time again.

Interesting. Don't remember seeing him do this against the Wild. Might have to start watching more Islanders games
