Brindy is also playing those who are really rolling right now, and between Smith and Cole, they are rolling. Bear also hasn’t completely gotten past his Covid stint and he has some lingering effects on his play. Bear could also be on the trade block, but unless the Canes are sure that they can either upgrade from Bear completely or package him with other assets in a bigger splash to make the team better, he likely doesn’t get traded. Smith has made a hard choice for Brindy as he is playing some of the best hockey in his career, and Brindy is choosing to either scratch Cole or Bear, and Bear has been the odd one out as of late. I could see something like the Hall/Larsson trade going down where Bear is traded for a winger, albeit it probably doesn’t end up being 1-1.

It would really depend on what the Canes would be getting back in a trade for Bear. I can tell you that the Canes would not want to go for that package, but someone like Garland or Hoglander would be of interest to the Canes. Canes would have to add IMO, but a package like that could go down.
