Description
I don't want to surrender a first at the deadline so that probably eliminates Giroux, but if we can get Kessel and Fleury I think it'd be a nice haul and gives us a fighting chance in a series.

Also, I absolutely love the concept of adding as many players that used to terrorize the Caps (Kovalchuk, Chara and kinda Lundqvist) so getting Kessel/Giroux and Fleury would be awesome too.

As a Chicago fan I’m wanting a first for MAF. I would be interested in a deal like this if the pick upgraded to a first based on the caps performance.

Vanecek and a first for Fleury is an easy no. A good, young, controllable goalie in Vanecek + a 2nd is probably the most value the Caps are willing to give to get it done. Caps have too little young talent to give up a first at the deadline for a goalie that you aren't positive what you're going to get out of.

The condition I suggest is based on the results you get with MAF. What about the caps winning 2 rounds before it upgrades to a first?

I'm not sure tbh. I'd also throw in the condition that Fleury has to play 50% of the games, but even then I'm not sure I would want to give up a first. If it can be that the Caps go to the Finals, I'd probably give the first. Just the potential matchup with Florida or Tampa in the ECF seems like one where the Caps would get smacked in the head 90% of the time.

And this is the point where the hypothetical GM’s should start negotiating. In any case the hawks will likely want a first or at least a chance at one in a MAF trade, and if we can’t get that I think there would be a couple of teams in on him for the price of a second and the goalie.
