Do you believe that the Red Wings could make it back to the Playoffs for the first time since 2016?

No, They won't make the playoffs this year.

Someone pays real stuff to get Martinez , it may not be full value but it won't be free.

That Vegas trade isn't something I see them accepting this trade. They are trying to win now and Martinez helps them with that a lot more than a defenseman a few years away from the NHL. I like the Panthers trade but I doubt they accept that trade.

I don't if they do it will be a 1st round exit. After 25yr straight playoff appearances and 4 cups a rebuild had to happen at some point. 25 seasons buying at the TDL decimated Detroit's farm system.

Yzerman isn't dealing Leddy @ $2,750,000 for what is basically a 4th round pick if the Caps win the cup. Yzerman will just hold onto him for that offer.

Vegas is currently $9+ million over the cap, with the salaries of Eichel $10 million and Martinez $5+ million buried in LTIR. Both are scheduled to come off LTIR, so something has to give to in order to activate them both. Even if they shed the Martinez salary, they still have much more salary to get rid of to activate Eichel.

There are a lot of LD options at the trade deadline, and the Wings already have Washington's 2022 2nd round. At this point, I don't see the Wings keeping Leddy past the deadline no matter what.

Caps decline. LD hasn't been the side of defense with the issue this year, with Fehervary, Orlov, and Van Riemsdyk all playing well this year. With depth at LD with Irwin (whos been surprisingly decent), Alexeyev, and Johansen, WSH would much rather go for a RD to replace Schultz and bring defensive capabilities (something Carlson and Schultz seem to lack)
