Replace him with Brannstrom, and I think it’s fair. This is a nice dream haha, but do you think Fiala would get 7M? This is definitely turning into a good team.

I’m not sure Minny would want Brannstrom. I think Jarventie has middle 6 potential boom or bust. I wanted Peterka but Jarventie is good too.

Fiala has averaged 67pts/82 games last 3 years. Certainly seems like it’s going to be 7+ mill

I don't think its dreaming. I think Guerin would make a Fiala trade along the lines of the Zucker/Addison trade if the draft choice and prospect are what he wants. I can see him being hesitant to move Fiala in season, but it does solve some cap issues if he does. And adding picks and futures is what he likes to do. So, for the right package I see Guerin making a trade.

I know i think it’s likely to happen just hoping Dorion pulls the trigger. It all depends if he thinks he can fit everyone + Fiala in longterm

Ohhh yah you might be right. I forgot they have Brodin.. And they just got Lambos, Peart etc in the draft, and on the right they have Spurgeon, Dumba with Addison coming up.. they may not want another defence man. I also like Jarventie! I wanted us to somehow get Reichel, and Peterka so we could have a German line haha. Fiala may get 7M, but I could see him getting closer to 6-6.5M right now… I guess we will see what he gets in the end, but he would be a good player to get for the sens.

They’re definitely buying out White, right?

I don’t think they need to buy him out but he won’t cost much to do it. I still think some team would take him for a 3rd round pick or something maybe even retain 1 mill if needed . He’s still a strong 3C imo

I would consider him as part of a Fiala deal 50% retained, but the buyout makes so much more monetary sense for OTT.

1 mill retention for 3 years is better than 800k buyout for 6 years

It would be, but I don’t think 1 mil does it. Completely agree he’s got something left and he’s on a reasonable cap hit, but he’s got 3 years left coming off injury.

For a young top 6 player they should. If the pick is in the 8-12 range

Ottawa is more in need of a young top six 70'ish point/year playdriving winger going into next season and the next couple of years than another 7-15 range pick that won't be on the team for at least a couple of years.

Furthermore, Fiala has been a top 5 player in puck possession numbers for the last 3 years.

More value in keeping the prospect and the pick than bringing in Fiala
