not gonna happen ever

Created by: Arh613
Team: 2021-22 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 11, 2022
Published: Feb. 11, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Please read before yelling at me in the comments: I know that this never would happen, but how close is it actually in terms of value?

2 roster players who can play anywhere in the middle 6 w/ top 6 upside and at least one more season of team control after this one (2 + RFA rights for Mittlestadt) with a proven goal scorer in Oloffson. A potential top 4 LD in Johnson a mid-late first from Vegas and moving up from the 4th to the second next year.

It seems like a mix of players that can continue to help now, along with more assets that can be used as trade bait or to continue to build an already strong pipeline of talent in NY. For Buf, it gives them another young very high upside offensive player to add to the mix without ripping apart any of their main core pieces moving forward

Something is wrong with Laf, he dominated at a youth level, but either he is a limited player in a league like the NHL, or Rangers simply do not understand how to right develop him. Maybe he's still trying to adapt. To pay that price, Adams needs to make sure he's acquiring a potential second Huberdeau and not just a 50-60 point winger.

I wouldn’t do that for Lafreniere. Right now he is very far from living up to his draft status. With 45 games this year, he has 13 points, with that pace he won’t reach 25 points. For reference Casey in his D+2 year had 25 points in 77 games, and all Sabres fans wanted him in Rochester. Trading Casey, a first, a second, Oloffson, and Johnson would be a massive overpay for someone who has proven 0 in this league, and has only declined in value since draft day.

I’d trade Eakin for a bag of pucks at this point 😆
