Lol Islanders Offseason

Created by: kylesinett
Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 13, 2022
Published: Feb. 13, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not saying that the Islanders will do this or that I expect Lou to explore something like this. However, I wanted to see if it was financially possible, without making asinine trades.

The teams I used for the trades I would make at the 2022 deadline (Varlamov, Chara, Greene, Clutterbuck) are not accurate. I just did it to reflect how many picks the Islanders would have going into the 2022 offseason. I had to re-sign Chara, Greene, and Clutterbuck to make these trades possible in CapFriendly.

For the healthy scratch guys, I didn't put any thought into it and just signed random players. Point is, Islanders would sign players that make near league minimum.

Hey I like the idea of some of these but could you explain the value for Kane? Thanks!

Boston would not claim him for free if you placed him on waivers.

Kane has 1 more year left on his deal at 10.5M. It'll be hard to find a team that can afford his contract and where he'd potentially waive his NMC. Therefore, his value will go down. I think Kane is worth around 2 1st round picks and that Beauvillier is worth a 1 and a 3. A 1, 2, and 2 3s is equivalent to 2 1s.

Can't see the Wild having interest in big Z at this point.

I'd say we keep Greene around for another season.

    Cal's gotta go
    Varly's gotta go
Big Z I think he's staying the rest of the season; I don't see Lou trading him away only because of his age
Bailey's (Sadly) gotta go; maybe get another pick off of him (6th or 7th rounder)
Palmieri's definitely gotta go; his style of play does not match the Islanders style of game at all
Now the Beauvillier deal I like, gets a great veteran presence from Patrick Kane, maybe he'll pull a Jeff Carter and score a **** ton of goals in a short amount of games

Team looks good if this is going to be it for next year, and none of us are Lou, so only a miracle can make this happen.
