The next trades

Created by: JeffGorton

Initial Creation Date: Feb. 14, 2022
Published: Feb. 14, 2022

Description
I think values are somewhat fair according to many analyst. Only ones I think i may be overpaying are the Leafs trade and the Rangers trade. Habs could add a better pick for the Leafs ones and maybe a lower level prospect for the Rangers one

You don't REALLY think that William Nylander is only worth Josh Anderson, Brett Stapley and a third, do you?

Oh god no, but Habs for some reason love him and the Leafs are prone to being stupid and trading for Grit. Realistically, id throw a 2nd and Guhle to that trade.

Nashville is the only one probably to decline. The rest are what their market values are and the EDM trade is a straight swap for someone both teams need and theyve got the same value (nearly 0)

Just because YOU dont think these players are valued at that doesnt mean the MARKET wont either. 12 teams already are willing to give a 1st for Chiarot. Lehkoken is going for a 1st at minimum. Petry still has good value to GMs because they dont just look at the previous 40 games.

Youd be surprised. They arent called the Laffs for nothing. Dubas is on his hotseat and if they dont win a series, he;ll be canned. Thats when GMs tend to make stupid trades

No, trading one of their best prospects AND A FIRST (assuming they pay the 2nd + 3rd to offload richie, which we dont even need the 3rd there) is a recipe for him being canned

Chiarot has 12 teams willing to give a 1st for him. So it starts at a 1st and im willing to bet the Blues are among one of those teams

The Edmonton one maybe, I don't know if they are interested in a trade like that.

No other team is paying those prices, you say that's market value. You added to the rumoured asking price on each trade. Way more on some.

Nylander is 25. Leafs get 4 million is cap saving, a forward who knows how to play playoff hockey for a player frankly the leafs have too many of. Skilled forwards. I could really see a Nylander, Ricthie for Anderson, Guhle and 2nd or 3rd rounder

Just because 12 teams are interested in s player does not mean 12 teams are willing to give a first for him. I bet if any of those teams offered a first already they would have taken it. He might get a first, maybe, probably need a not so friendly contact coming back.

Yes thats because teams have already called the Habs on the reported market value. Thats called a bidding war, and teams give up more than market value in a bidding war. Habs have gotten multiple teams call for all of our 'Tradeable players'.

Nylander is a PPG player who also performs well in playoffs. He is not the problem. If you want to talk about Marner and Playoffs, Dubas would still get fired/the trade would get vetoed on the spot by upper management.

Meanwhile Anderson, while he does have size and speed, he is very inconsistent and doesnt produce like Nylander. Stapley is a 7th rounder, not much value there. The only thing they win here is Anderson's looks (top 5 player in the league for hottness).

How much ill bet $100 that he doesnt get traded to the blues for a first. DA just doesnt give up firsts for him. maybe a first for him retained and taking scandella back yes but straight up no way in hell

This is exactly why I react so violently to the kind of nonsense that agitators (because that's all they are, they aren't reporters) purvey. Elliotte Friedman says that "12 teams have interest in Chiarot" (because no one can ever prove him wrong) and people automatically translate that into "12 teams are willing to pay a first-round pick for Chiarot." It's obscene.

Trick Question: Who has the lowest trade value to any team in the NHL:

Marc-Edouard Vlasic

Jeff Skinner

Brett Stapley

Other?

Answer: Brett Stapley, who is a seventh-round pick and becomes a free agent on August 15.
