I would definitely do that Kessel deal from the Coyotes side, but think the value favors us too much. Pronman had an article in the Athletic today saying we've shopping him at 50% for a 3rd without takers (quoting an executive). I don't know if I can believe it, but I'll have to trust it for the time being. Otherwise I think NYR makes sense as a destination.

Bertuzzi is on more than a point per game clip... his cost will be astronomically high right now. What you're willing to pay won't get him and what it would take, you're not willing to spend.

While it could be good to sell Bertuzzi while the value is high and what we get in return is not bad by any means.
I just don't think this is what we want to do right now, we are starting to get to the tail end of our rebuild soon.
Chytil is a C and Lundkvist is a RD.
C is our best position for depth and we have about 7 NHL players who can play it, RD is our strongest position overall.
That 1st will also be in the 20-30 range which I really don't think is enough for Bertuzzi.

I would be more interested in that deal if it was Lafreniere instead of Chytil. Even with us being set at RD I would take Lundkvist all day. He could be used as a trade chip to improve the team or make one of the other RD expendable.

Laf wouldn't get traded for a player w/ 2 years of term.

Isn't that what new York needs? Guys with not much term so that they can sign everyone else on two years time? Either way with how Bertuzzi is playing and the desire to not want to trade him, it would take Laf+. It's really more than new York should pay unfortunately.

Honestly, I think Montreal would prefer to just simplify the deal to Kulak for a 4th. The rest of the deal doesn't make much sense for Montreal.

It's laf + 1st + 2nd or no deal. If we don't get a mantha type deal then bertuzzi is going absolutely nowhere

Add laf. and Miller to the Detroit trade. Or Kravtsov, Miller, 2nd. Detroit will retain 2,375,000.

First off Bertuzzi isn't getting moved this year unless it's a massive overpayment even more then Mantha, He'd be more of a 2023 trade deadline move then you could work a long term extension even though i seriously boubt the Rangers could even afford Bertuzzi long term as you're looking at minimally 7 years $49,000,000 to sign him and probably more.

Detroit declines, Bertuzzi can be extended on free agency day july 13th give us Lafreniere and then we can talk. This doesn't even come close to getting Bert.
