Why are the wild giving up a first for a more expensive player who plays a position they dont need and has like 15 points on the year?

Oilers can’t offer that second rounder it’s still attached to kieth trade but I’m not against that ask overall.

The conversation with David Poile goes something like this:
KH David got a trade for you (says above)
DP: Flip that 2nd around I might consider it, probably not though.

Yeah no. Just because Montreal payed a 1st for Christian Davorik doesn't mean wild are interested. Also as our beat writer made clear yesterday, our GM and coach don't have any interest taking freddy from fiala and boldy line no Matter who they acquire . Fiala especially being so turnover prone, freddy protect him playing on that line

Dvorak only got a 1st from MTL since Bergevin literally had to acquire him, overpay Kotkaniemi or go without a center to a season they were trying to contend in. Dvorak's value has only gone down since then, so the Wild decline.

PL im shocked you havent learned from the GM Game days that long term retention effectively kills any chance to compete. not to mention why would you want to have 3 additional years of dead cap?

No shot the rangers entertain that offer, chiarot isnt getting a first and a major prospect. its likely a 2 and a mid round prospect at best. i know there were rumors about lekko being coveted i just dont see him getting that kind of value.

also wouldnt be shocked if dvorak wanted out of montreal but its gotta make sense for both sides.

Pass on Drouin. Oilers have enough soft skill, they need some more grit. Lavoie is going to be a beast.

just to reference the trade logic here... Toffoli, who was the teams leading scorer and arguably best trade chip got a probable late first but the pick is top 10 protected anyways. a recent 2nd round prospect a 5th and a cap dump. not sure anyone else on the habs (that would actually be traded away) would net anything remotely close to this value.

Also Drouin is a Left shot, Oilers have plenty of let shot forwards.

Drouin for under 3 million for another full season is an interesting idea. I like Lavoie more than most on this site but it’s a buyers move Drouin this year and next can have a bigger impact than Lavoie will in the next 4 years. I don’t like moving him but gotta give to get and avoids names at the top of prospect list in doing so. I’d like to see him next to a Big centre that can snipe such as Leon.
