How are the Wild to fill 5 forward, 3 defense and 1 goalie spot with 11m and stay competitive the next two years without Kaprizov feeling like it's two years lost?</div></div>
L.O.L. The cap hit goes up $2M next year, and the cap goes up 1M, net 1M deficit. As of the deadline they had ~12M in space this year, and....... last I checked are a top 2 team in the central, so, I don't really understand how they are all the sudden going to become not competitive other than this fantasy land of thinking you could get a hart trophy candidate for pennies on the dollar.

I wouldnt say that with 100% certainty - I think after they figure out what their cap situation is going to look like next year (i.e. have all or most of their players signed), they could re-bark up this tree, as the cap will likely not be flat the year after.<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Digitalbooya06</b></div><div>Try 50% retention and Minnesota would still say no.</div></div>

Foligno maybe, Goligoski and Fleury aren't going anywhere, the hope for those 2 would be retirement on the 35+ contracts, but that is questionable for both of them I feel. But yeah, Greenway is the first that has to go for sure.

As a wild fan, I would love to see Dumba go for anything, which well, is probably the same reason you wouldnt want him. I think with the cap crunch the wild are about to be in with Boldy's new contract, both Hartman and Greenway are gonna have to go next year, but I could be totally wrong. I just think as the GM if you are having to make these tough decisions on anyone who is 1.5M or more, you've gotta consider who can get you the best return, especially when they aren't a true top 6 player.

First is probably for Hartman, a guy who has proven he can score 25+ on a 1.7M contract.

I am very torn on Addison, he hasnt even got near that 100 NHL game mark so its hard to give a true value on him, the upside is absolutely there and the rock bottom doesnt seem that low, I just hope he doesnt price himself out of MN this summer.

Making Boeser work next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jnowariak</b></div><div>They’d ask for a 1st and probably wouldn’t take on dead term for less, nor should they. If it was for a single year, maybe they’d take a 2nd and 3rd but not for 2.</div></div>
I also wouldnt be opposed to giving up a 1st for him, he is 25 years old and has proven he can be a 30+ goal scorer, if the wild don't get him I see them backing into the playoffs barely based off how they are playing, which would lead to being a early 20s pick, if they get him, I think they win maybe 1 round this year solidifying the top 6 with a shoot first winger to play with Boldy and actually can play the CORRECT side on the PP instead of having someone with their stick to the boards on the half wall (sorry, this has has been a gripe of mine for years, no elite PP has a lefty on the left boards) which would put them to a mid to late 20s pick this year and a quality player going forward, I think if the ask were to be the next 2 years firsts and some prospects that arent top end, I do it.

What would be the cost of putting like 2M in Arizona on Boessers deal? a couple 2nds? Also - at this point, with only 18k in cap room, I believe that Faber's draft year means his max cap hit is 925k, which does add a whopping 25k lol

I don't disagree, I do not at all understand why they would not play him with Brodin if they think his defense is so poor, Brodin has been covering for Dumba since they came into the league, it would be nothing new for him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BenningTruther</b></div><div>Ya more than likely. hard to move a 6.6mil guy in a flat cap world. Also since his agent was given permission to talk to other teams, boesers play has really picked up. I dont think managment is at the point they were a few months ago when there were reports they would take below market value just to shed the cap. Now that Bo is gone the same need to clear cap isnt there and thats why i think a boeser trade is unlikely until at least the draft. Allvin also said he doesnt want to give up on brock because of his age and scoring pedegree</div></div>
Appreciate the insight - as a Wild fan, and not spending a ton of time reading both sides of trades, all I have been reading is how Hankinson has been working closely with Guerin trying to figure it out, which to me seems as though the asking price would just be increased? But maybe I am taking that out of context. Also - have no idea what "working closely to try and figure something out" means, like is he reaching out to other teams on behalf of the Wild too in order to facilitate a trade for someone like Greenway? Idk, the whole thing is just something I've never seen before.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Knies is the next messiah like some might, but he is still a very very solid player who plays with some grit and good skill. I think that this would be a great deal for the wild personally, but that is just my opinion.

WE AINT DONE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AndrewPawlack</b></div><div>they took on cap for RoR. What makes you think they're trying to compete lol</div></div>
They have 12M in deadline space, its been widely talked about in MN including by the GM that he doesnt want to burn first round picks or top prospects for rentals this year, but they have stockpiled this cap to continue to build their prospect pool and add more picks. He has zero desire to not compete, and isnt going to be a full on seller, there are 3 players that have even been floated, 1) Greenway who is having a very sub-par year and his $3M has to come off the books next year due to Boldy's contract extension 2) Dumba, who they have their natural replacement for in Brock Faber in the NCAA and is a UFA who they cannot resign at the end of the year 3) Goligoski who has been getting healthy scratched 75% of the year, and is not happy with it.
None of those players effect their ability to compete this year and they have an asset in that cap room, and an owner willing to spend the actual cash to "purchase" picks.

TBH, if I were GMBG, I would just wait for Zucker to become a FA, not necessarily worth the price as a rental, and high potential of him taking a very team friendly deal with the fact that his family CANNOT move out of Minnesota, if you don't understand or have knowledge of that, that is okay, but it is factual. He and his wife have expressed that his preference would be to play in Min after his deal ran out with an absolute NMC
