Lindstrom usually has been 2nd pairing when Hronek has been healthy, but now with Stecher back we've reunited him with Staal on the 2nd pairing.
But yeah, kinda shocking ik.

I've heard from many DET fans that the plan is to re-sign Namestnikov, no?

Also, not to nitpick, while I'd do this trade, you'd have to take our 2024 3rd. The 2023rd has conditions (Carter to play 50 games) which will definitely be met and will turn into a 4th.

Ah, understand that Carter situation.
Love him, but even if we trade Nammy we'll probably sign him again in FA.
Even if he doesn't end up signing back, it opens up a roster spot for a guy like Berggren.

Ah ok, gotcha. Yeah, I think he'd be a perfect fit in Sully's system if the Pens do try to pick up a forward at the deadline.

I'd be interested in knowing how often players who are traded at the trade deadline end up re-signing with the team who traded them. I don't think it happens very often.

I think trading Namestikov would be a mistake. He has been a fantastic fit here and loves it here and should be extended. A lot of people say "just re-sign him in the off-season", but nothing is guaranteed and I would rather keep the chemistry and known commodity in the building, over adding a mid round pick to an already crowded pipeline. Unless Yzerman has a conversation with him where he expresses a desire to go to a contender, I'd much rather we give him a 3 year deal now and lock our utility man down.

Lindstrom is criminally underrated. He's not flashy offensively, but he's arguably our best defender and that's including Mo, from a pure showdown perspective.

Probably doesn't happen often, but you can tell that Nammy loves the franchise and wouldn't want to leave.
Pretty sure that Yzerman would probably sit him down and have a talk with him.

Or I might be overestimating Stevie here.

Namestnikov recently said he's open to a contract extension. But Yzerman never leaks anything. It could go either way. He's either re-signed before the trade deadline or he's traded at the trade deadline. Stevie had Namestnikov in Tampa so he obviously likes him. He's had a good season. If I had to guess, Namestnikov will be re-signed. But don't hold me to it. LOL

Trades look good though if we are retaining on Stech I think we should ask for more.
