That's a pretty easy no from SJ, value isn't there.

Only good piece of that is Barron, think that’s a pretty easy no from San Jose.

No they don't, because Staal isn't waiving especially to go that far west.

Staal isn't waiving his NMC, He's not uprooting his family and doubtful he'd waive to go over 2,000 miles from Detroit.

TIL Staal joined Boko Haram. Has he said that outright or are you speculating? I feel like he would be willing to take 3 months out of town for a chance to win the cup. This could be his last season before retirement, and if not the he might have to move his fam anyway if DET doesn’t renew his contract.

No i'm not speculating, He was given a NMC because he doesn't want to uproot his family that's pure fact. Staal himself has said numerous times he doesn't want to waive and wants to remain in Detroit for the full season and help mentor the kids. If Staal wanted out at the trade deadline Yzerman would've given him a Mod-NTC not a NMC.

Talking from a hockey standpoint, if an offer like that came in for an aging player like Staal it's a no brainer.

But good take on NMC, but I could see him MAYBE moving for the rest of the year to win a cup.

Keeping his family in Detroit.
