I don't think this moves the needle for Chicago.

He is a tough one to gauge value on. The reported asking is reportedly a first, a prospect and potentially another prospect.

Getting a 2nd, and a prospect, plus a young NHL d-man, comes pretty close to that. Perhaps the prospect should be a bit better, perhaps someone like Hirovinen.

I just don't see what Chicago gains by trading Hagel unless it's an overpayment. I hate when GM's make trades just for the sake of making trades.

Now if the Hawks hire Chiarelli as GM he'll likely trade Hagel to the Leafs for Dzingel. LOL

You'd have to include Robertson or Amirov in my opinion.

I struggle with this whole Hagel rumour thing. What incentive does Chicago have to move him? Even when his deal expires he is under team control. Seems like a good asset to hang on to unless someone massively overpays.

This isn't going to work. Hawks have been offered a 1st and a decent/good prospect from multiple teams and have turned it down. As reported, it will at least take a 1st and top prospect. Hawks have no use for Dermott, they are loaded with younger or cheaper or better bottom pairing options with 2nd line upside compared to Dermott.

how exactly is it close? Dermott is on every TOR ACGM and CHI is one of the teams with the least need for a 3rd pairing LD. A late 2nd and Abruzzese doesn't hold value like a 1st + top prospect.
