I'd take that deal. But maybe ask for the 2023 First instead. Blackhawks fans will say Hagel's only 23 and should be part of their rebuild, but you don't keep a 3rd liner (a really high-energy effective 3rd liner) around for that. Even late first in what is supposed to be a bad draft year gives a chance at finding a solid NHLer, including maybe a top-6 forward.

I think if the 4th was removed from CHI end, there is likely a deal here or at the very least discussions are opened.

Hagel isn't a 3rd liner, he's a top 6 on the Hawks, and would be on the Leafs too as evidence here.

The fact that he's had so many top-6 minutes on the Hawks tells us more about their depth at forward then where he should be slotted. He's got enough speed and skill to play with the big boys, but he's not really a top-6 forward, even if he gets pressed into service on the top 6.

The point is, he's a awesome supporting line member of a top 6, just like he would be on the Leafs. Top 6 players are different from elite players. Most teams don't have elite or star players covering their entire top 6.
