Rangers couldn’t afford the salary for Fiala.

If they could flip Fiala for pieces, is Laf on the block? I've seen a couple things with him in there and don't know how realistic they are.

If they did that they’d be stupid to move him,but I’d never put anything past this team. I don’t like the idea of trading Laf for Fiala to then subsequently flip. No chance the Rangers win a series of trades like that.

Both teams probably? Rangers can't afford Fiala (and have a bigger need at center) and Lafreniere is a major downgrade from Fiala for the Wild (at least in the short term, he's still very young and has potential)

IF laff is on the block, they could probably do better than Fiala, just because the wild is up against the cap for next year i dont feel they have the upperhand in trade right now. and you, in general its just not a good idea to trade a first overall pick after 2 years. just look at how jack hughes stepped up on his 3rd year.

Well, Fiala is probably getting moved for picks and prospects if he gets moved, so why not go for a former No. 1 OVR pick thats still under 20 who just hasn't seemed to get his legs quite yet.

Panthers say no probably

Nah, just kidding. I haven't scouted Laf enough to really say anything here but I'd expect that as a quite recent #1 pick he still has untapped potential. I think Minnesota adds here

What if it were a 3 way deal where you move him to somewhere like the Kings and get a first and a prospect?

Unless it was 1st overall, I’d have no interest and think long term we’d lose that deal.

Makes 0 sense. Laf holds much more value, but he isn't as good. Fiala makes too much for the rangers as well

As I said, Rangers can't afford to do it and if they move Lafreniere they should address their need for a center. Plus, I really don't like how Lafreniere was thrown into the NHL. I realize the Rangers couldn't have sent him to the AHL if they wanted to due to the dumb CHL-AHL agreement, but I think that significantly hurt his development and they should have tried to get him to play in Europe for a year like Matthews did. But he's still really young and obviously very talented, but IMO there's a real risk he turns into another Yakupov.

I just don't really like the deal for either team.
