for dallas fan fair trade

Created by: drambui

Description
i still think petry has positive value despite its bad season. But there is not many team that would be a good fit for him. dallas could be if they lose klinberg. i understand it might not be dallas favorite option but their is not a lot of available option to play RD in the league right now. i feel the habs might be looking to trade petry if he wants to leave and can get something like this as an offer.
Trades
MTL
  1. Eriksson, Albin [Reserve List]
  2. Khudobin, Anton
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
trade is in offseason. anything to add? another bad contract? another prospect? let me know! like i said im sure GM still see petry as a positive asset, just trying to figure out what a trade for him would look like. (maybe its an overpay and he gets just a third like schmitt did, but vegas was also cap strapped that year).

To be honest I don’t mind it, it’s a lot better than all the other Habs AGM’s with Johnston, Stankoven and Bourque in it. Those are nuts.

As for if it’s fair I’m not sure, Petry hasn’t looked good of late, but before that he was pretty good. It’s hard to gauge his value, I think Montreal will hang on to him and see of his value augments before trading him.

The big question that GMs will be asking.....Is Petry worth 6.25m for three full years? If not ,there is no trade. Best thing for Petry to do if he want to leave Montreal is to play well for the rest of the season.

i agree its most likely we keep him, we have our own problems with right d aswell. maybe he asks for a trade cause he doesnt want to spend his last few yeays in a rebuilding team. he kinded of looked great under MSL tho ( i know its just 5 games). im just wondering what sort of prospect could be coming back . is deleandra off limit? maybe if we drop the second?

there is little chance he is worth it for 3 years, but he might be for 1 or 2. i think it holds value for GM. Like you said the rest of the season might be very important to see what prety can do under a new coach too. so far he responded well. hopefully he keep it up.

Very doubtful that Jim Nill takes on Jeff Petry at full value. Talk is both Dallas and Detroit have interest in jeff Petry but at $5,000,000 not $6,250,000 even though Detroit can take on Petry's full value and not even bat an eyelash.

No offense but I don't want Petry at all. The Stars don't need another aging player with lots of term left. Having Petry just makes Dallas older and slower and they're already old and slow enough.

i can definitly see the habs retaining that much for like an extra 3rd or something like that.

i dont blame you, how would you be excited after the years he is having. taking him is a gamble for sure. but its a gamble that could pay off if he gets a good year or 2. GMs makes many that are headscratchers but ends up being good for the team in hindsight. in the end, dallas and detroit are in the play for gim, just trying to see what it would look like. But i get no one would be thrilled fora petry trade right now.

If Dallas were to get rid of Suter I'd be open to bringing in Petry. But with the lineup they have it just doesn't make sense.
