could be another team but as much as i understand fans not wanting to do that, and i agree it's too much, we both know there is a biding war around him and st-louis are one of the most interested. This type of deal is a possiblity during the tdl.

That's an assumption.
Even if he isn't as good then, it doesn't mean he's worthless. Giordano won the Norris at 35, is still playing 20 minutes a game, and could possible return a 1st in his final contract year.
It's not unreasonable that Petry could do the same. You pick him up for a 1st now, get a couple of years out of him, and sell him for a 3rd at the end of his contract.

His value is low because of the situation, but he's already beginning to bounce back from Ducharme's reign and should continue to do so.
A 2nd would be selling low. If that's the only option, it's still worth considering, but don't let his contract overshadow his current value. If keeping him is tenable (covid border restrictions being the big issue), a 2nd isn't worth moving him for.

i agree with you on alot of what you said, but giordano is a proven leader at 4,52m its 1,75m less then petry who's not a the leader type. so for me their not the same type of player. and even if petry comes back and plays well for the rest of the season he just showed he stops playing when things don't go his way. that's why i think team will be less interested in acquiring him.

Giordano is a similar player, though a little better, but has more character. I'm not saying they are equal value.
That's why I said if Gio is worth close to a 1st at 38, Petry is close to a 3rd at 38 (with similar trajectories).

Giordano's contract is $6.75M though. Where's the $4.5M coming from?

for giordano's contract that's my bad, it was bad research. and i agree with you that they are similar in value but the way petry's has been playing and acting in this start of season is a huge red flag. hockey wise i totally agree with you but the fact that he's not know for his leadership and that he just decided to not give a sh*t anymore is gonna make teams hesitate

I agree but no way da gives up a first as much as mtl fans like to think that he just doesn’t do that

i mean he's clearly not worth a first, but that's the asked price and teams are reported to be very interested in him. It must be because that's what he'll fetch

Well it’s a battle of wills and I assume Mtls desire to get something for him overrides the blues to get him

I'm sure the Caps can't wait to trade Samsonov for Allen and a 2nd! They are probably the ones who will be calling Gorton to propose
