Dumpster fire of Buffalo with a new gm, Winnipeg is in a different situation and a seasoned gm that may not want to acquire prospects for next gm.

Moved well past the dumpster fire, but at the time, I don’t believe my statement is wrong. Jets could be there also if they make some bad moves, and some of the contracts age badly.

I mean it’s true, Buffalo was a raging dumpster fire at that point. Was a new GM in charge likely being guided by the peguals. Two different situations.

If it’s this TDL I could for sure see Laf + Schneider and a 1st. 3 cup runs is a lot, especially when he’s a 1C who will put up over a PPG in NY. Not to mention his very team friendly deal. Also gallant plays a perfect system for Scheifele. I think two top prospects and a 1st is super fair for a prime 1C with term on a friendly deal.

Personally don’t think the deal would move the needle that much cause they’d still have cap problems and will have traded away multiple cheap young pieces in said trade. The Rangers really need a young center on an ELC to come in and play in the middle 6 to grow into a top 6 center. By the time they’d have to pay him, the cap issues will have worked themselves out a little better and leave us in a better spot. Adding Schiefele in a deal like you mentioned I think leaves the team far too top heavy with not enough depth to do anything meaningful in the playoffs. Truthfully they’d need an entire 3rd line which is gonna be very hard to find with limited cap if they made a move like this.

Jets can retain 1m on scheifele and/or take back someone with cap.

I think when you have a prime 1C that can put up over a PPG on the table for a package that doesn’t gut your team you’d find a way to make the cap work. I mean I don’t think it’s that hard to make the cap work for the rangers.

Yes the top six would be great, but the entire bottom would be a question mark. We’d be counting on Goodrow, Barron, Reaves, maybe Rooney, Othmann and Blais/ Hunt to hold the fort down. Not sure if that’s enough scoring to compete come playoff time, when the top players usual aren’t able to score as much. If in this scenario Laf and Schneider got moved that means we need a defenseman and another top 6 winger cause we wouldn’t be able to resign Strome and leaves us with Kakko, Mika, Kreider, Panarin and Schiefele. Lot of questions that would need to be solved to even consider a move like this. And if they don’t win a cup in those 3 years, it’s a bust cause they likely won’t be able to afford to resign Schiefele and it’d have cost them both Laf and Schneider. Interesting idea yes, practical, I’m not too sure.

I think the Rangers would be crazy not to take this deal if it was offered, neither of Lafreniere or Kakko is doing much, they're flush with RHD so Schneider is expendable as much as Rangers fans on here say he isn't, if trading Schneider at this deadline gets a better return (which logically it should) then I hope Chevy does it cause this team is going nowhere as it is.

This team is t going anywhere with Schiefele either. This year is all about gaining playoff experience.

I think every poster here has been trying to tell you you're delusional without using the word, but since you've admitted it, that's the first step to making reasonable offers.

What would you know about making reasonable offers YOU'VE NEVER TRIED MAKING ONE YET!!!

Scheifele is going to cost you one of Laf/Schneider + one of Lundkivst/Barron + 1st at least.

I know you compared this to the Eichel deal but that’s basically comparing apples to oranges. Eichel was hurt, and wanted a controversial surgery. He also had publicly requested a deal and said he wouldn’t play for the Sabres again. That right there lowers his value a ton, not to mention there were 2-3 teams interested.

I mean look at what Arizona wants for Chychrun, he’s a LD, which is in less demand than a 1C in his prime at a reasonable cap hit with term left.

Ya and after every Jets game fans says 55 is horrible defensively, isn't competing and him and 26 are terrible team mates. Same Jets fans sees trade on here for 55 and then all of a sudden he is a #1C in his prime with a great contract lol.

I think that’s jets fans just being super frustrated with results. Scheifele is like that one girl you just are always going back to no matter how frustrating it can get. He’s a great offensive player but he’s just looked disinterested defensively as of late. Looks like he just doesn’t want to buy into the defensive system. We’ve seen him play well defensively but as of late he’s just disengaged. I think he’d benefit majorly from a change of scenery. He doesn’t fit the current system too well, a coach like gallant would be great for him. He’s awesome in transition.

That doesn't get Scheifele, And the Rangers don't have the cap space for him anyways.

Chipman has been too loyal to players, coaches and management, there has never been consequences on players that don't play defense, coaches got complacent, Huddy has been here since the start and defense constantly struggle. I'd be willing to keep 55, 44, 17 and 4 if Chipman would make some hockey operation changes and see what they could get out of the group but need to upgrade some on RHD and bottom 6 as well.

You've less then $10,000,000 to sign 6 players. Without moving out another expensive contract they don't.

Okay that's 13,700,000 to sign 7 players then and Scheifele eats half of that. Still going to be tough to manage a complete roster with about $7,000,000 for 6 players.
