First off, take off the retention. It’s not needed as DeSmith will either go to the minors or be claimed off waivers or traded. Secondly maybe a conditional 2nd that could turn into a 1st?

It would need to be significant. Forsberg for a 4th is fine but Brown has an extra year left on his deal and you’re asking Ottawa to retain 400k x2…

Honestly not sure how interested Ottawa would be in getting Kapanen as the main piece back. Definitely would need to be a significant addition on Pittsburgh’s end.

ottawa likes brown so probably would take an overpayment. add in a 2nd tier prospect and change that 4th to a 2nd.

Sens get nothing from this deal. Forsberg alone will be able to fetch a 4th, Sens have no reason to want a struggling middle 6 RW who's gonna be gone in a year anyways. RW is one of the Senators' major weakesses and this would do nothing but make it thinner. It'd not even really be a matter of the Pens "adding" to a Brown for Kapanen trade, it woud be Brown for prospects and picks (will start with a 1st/a prospect worth a 1st), and the Pens can throw in Kapanen for the cap dump.
