If NSH decides to sell

Created by: KadenM_R
Team: 2021-22 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 28, 2022
Published: Feb. 28, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
NSH is reported to want to trade Forsberg, so at that point they might be thinking of a retool, so here is what I think their TDL could look like.
Trades
1.
NSH
  1. Fagemo, Samuel
  2. Turcotte, Alex
  3. 2022 1st round pick (LAK)
  4. 2022 5th round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
We don't know what Turcotte's value looks like right now, but NSH could hit big grabbing him.
LAK
  1. Forsberg, Filip ($3,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
*Only if an extension is in place*
2.
NSH
  1. Villeneuve, William
  2. 2022 1st round pick (TOR)
  3. 2023 5th round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. Ekholm, Mattias ($1,875,000 retained)
Additional Details:
This makes too much sense for the Leafs
3.
NSH
  1. 2022 5th round pick (EDM)
4.
NSH
  1. 2022 4th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
NYR may want a bruiser/vet on the back end
5.
NSH
  1. 2022 6th round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Good 4th line option for the Avs
COL
  1. Cousins, Nick
Additional Details:
*Only assuming he gets healthy*

Ekholm would be nice but way too big of a cap hit

Why would Forsberg take a sign and trade at the deadline?

Wouldn’t maximizing his value in the free agency be his best bet?

I’m afraid if you sell Forsberg it will only be as a rental, and rentals won’t get you Turcotte.

The deal listed for Rangers I could see Edmonton wanting.

Borowiecki just re-signed with NSH a couple weeks ago, so they're not going to trade him at the deadline.

Ekholm also has an extension in place, so he's not likely available either (TBH that offer would be a little light for Ekholm as a rental).

Cousins I could see fetching a 3rd or 4th at the deadline. You have to think he has more trade value than Rittich.

He likely doesn't get moved in that scenario, but a 2nd and Savoie or McLeod?

He's a serviceable player on a great deal, so I would say something like a 2nd/3rd + a solid prospect. The pick depends on the prospect. Maybe Lavoie+ 3rd/4th makes a bit of sense.

Agreed. If the Oilers could get him for Lavoie and a 3rd I'd be glad they did it.

I'd prefer a different prospect than Lavoie.

If you're blowing it up then what do you want for Jeannot & Sissons?

Jeannot is a guy I would want to keep due to his age and how he's played this season. For Sissons due to his amazing contract I would say a 2nd/3rd/4th + a decent prospect. The better the prospect the lower the pick.

Yeah, Nashville would want to keep TJ for the same reason I'd love the Avs to go after him. What kind of value do they think they'd put on him for a trade though? I was thinking something like a second plus a similar aged bottom 6?

Honestly at this point I think NSH doesn't take anything less than a pick + a prospect. If they decided to go the rebuild route, then I think they only move him for futures.
