Okay. First of all, please do not tell me any of these trades are unrealistic. This is me predicting how value will work out.

First, Bailey is highly respected. I somewhat regret trading him inside the division but it has happened before for Lou so it isnt impossible. Now while all Islanders fans know he sucks, many GMs are stupid. Thus how Chara has a job. I think that a late 1st in a relatively weaker draft for a 2nd-3rd liner and a future

Second, I think a half retained Varlamov for Koskinen and a 1st is realistic. About what is expected of him.

Third, Mayfield. Rentak defenseman getting two second rounders is pretty realistic. They are a younger team so he will help a lot.

Fourth, I already talked about it but the Girard deal. It is probably the most ambitious deal on here but I think it will happen. Toews is very very good and better than Girard. I think that they will rather have Toews-Behrens-Hellesson at like 8 mil, 1 mil and 1 mil respectively than Girard there. Then Beauvillier can slot in to where the UFAs they lose were.
For the fairness, Girard>Beauvillier so dropping down a few picks in round one and giving another 2nd in a stacked draft + a future 6th + a roster player for cheap is definitely a worthwhile move for the Avs and very solid value.

That is all. I spent way too much time on this. feel free to respond but please be respectful.

Also, there are a bunch of smaller deals like Clutter and Parise at 2022 TDL who get later picks. But they do not really matter here because idc about picks after round 2 for this armchair. Same with wherever the Islanders are at in 2022-23. Could be buying, could be selling. I think Mayfield is gone no matter what, though. So feel free to pretend like we have a few random later picks from contending teams in the 2021-22 season.

Well, this was fun. If you read this entire thing, thank you :)

Scott Mayfield-- 2023 Trade Deadline Move. Kings should be contending. They moved a RD at 2022 draft for Chychrun so they need to fill in. THey extend him days later at 2 years, 3.75 AAV.

Varlamov at 2.5 mil retained. Islanders extend Koskinen for 2023 season at a 1 year, 2.5 mil season and he is the backup behind Sorokin.
Oilers make this move because of a struggling Koskinen heading into the TDL and is becomes apparent that Smith plans to retire following the 2022-23 season so they run Varlamov-Skinner in 2022-23

Pick becomes the 22nd overall pick. Pick is used to select Alexander Perevalov

      Additional Details:
Being desperate for cap space to sign re-sign Toews and Mack and being able to spare one of their few movable assets who they can obtain value for, the Avalanche move Girard at the 2023 NHL draft to the New York Islanders for Beauvillier. Having Behrens come up on his ELC and Barron+Helleson, they can afford this loss. As of March 2nd, 2022 it wouldnt make sense. But I ampredicting at 2023 Draft it will.

      Trade goes as follows:

      Islanders recieve:
      Samuel Girard
30th OVR Pick in 2023 NHL Draft

Kings are deep at right defense, even if they move an RD for Chychrun:

Doughty, Roy, Walker, Durzi = NHL RD Regulars
Clarke , Faber = Slam dunk RD prospects
Grans, Spence = High value RD prospects

Doubt Clark or Faber are ready next year. Likely Grans would be in the Chychrun deal. IDK anything about Spence. Mayfield has played both sides too so he could play LD. Kings dont need B level prospects anymore so I still think Mayfield is worth it

Even if Grans is moved the Kings still have a glut at RD with: Doughty, Roy, Walker, and Durzi. I just don't see where he would fit.

The Avs aren't "desperate" for cap space. Toews has two more years left on his deal and Mac will get EJ's money that comes off the books after next season. So, they can afford to keep Girard for at least one more year, no problem. Now, they might - MIGHT - be interested in moving Girard in order to re-sign Toews when the time comes. That being said, this package isn't bad and the Avs would likely be interested in Beauvillier.

Did read the entire thing and lots of respect for the effort put in. That being said I’d really question why varlamov would be willing to come to Edmonton when he has a 16 team no trade clause. Betting he stays in the states my guess is to a team with a large Russian presence and might want a veteran goalie around cough cough Washington.

Respect doesn't garner a 1st. He is declining and expensive. Pittsburgh has no room or need for him.

I believe that this is the offseason where they have to re-sign him. This is intended for like post 2023-24 season. As far as I can go on here

Dependent on how Beauvillier has progressed it's probably a pretty decent trade with the Avs.

dont think Lou would ever move within the division. and I think varly would waive it for a ring. Only a year and a half there. Thanks for reading. That being said, would the caps move Vanacek? If yes, I could see it. Like a early to mid pick and Vanecek for maybe Varly and a depth piece?

That’s what I personally think will happen if he gets moved Vanacek plus a 2nd or 3rd type of trade. He gets to stay in the states which I think is important part of why American based players get clauses. He gets to be around other Russians which I understand might not seem important to most on here but given the global events taking place I don’t think that aspect should be ignored. Is Edmonton that much more of a cup favourite to choose over Washington? They have won a cup far more recently with many of the pieces still there. I get the in the division aspect but when he has a 16 team no trade clause if serious about moving can’t be that picky about where.

i didnt realize vanecek was on the table. Lou would make a hockey trade for sure

I have no idea don’t follow Washington closely. From an outsider point of view makes the most sense if they look to add a veteran goalie at deadline unlikely to run with three goalies and he was already let go once by the team in expansion might be willing to part with again.
