I think this trade would make the Pens stronger for now but kills them after the season. Pens are going to have to dump Zucker's deal and probably one of the top 3 LD's on the roster to keep most of our folks and/or have a chance to keep Boeser. In which case we sent out a top draft pick and top D prospect for a half year (not even) rental.

The Pens are going to have to dump Zucker and either Pettersson or Matheson just to keep Rust, Geno and Letang, so imagine if they get Boeser.

I think if Pens add a 1st than they get a worse prospect than Joseph. The difference between Boeser and Kap is smaller than everyone acts

Boeser (-$2.25) for Kapanen, Joseph, 2nd

If that is all that it took to get Boeser I think that it would already have been done.

Sullivan has done his best to ruin Kapanen, the Pens don't seem high on Joseph, and a 2nd. From coaching point of view Boeser would basically be free, from management it is a just 2nd.

The second can become a first. Kapanen has been playing top 6 mins all season long. Even right when he’s been horrendous on both sides of the puck he’s still seeing top 6 mins. Sullivan definitely hasn’t ruined him

Kapanen was more aggressive offensively in Toronto, more physical and actually played defensively (not great but solid). Sullivan has washed all of that out of his game.

U win cups by adapting. Not every player plays the same way but u have to sacrifice things to win. He has tons of potential which is why trading him at this point makes sense
