I believe they will be able to if they get him for more years at a lesser AAV. Possibly 5 years at 6 million dollars. that would give them around 2 million dollars to add a d man in the offseason whici is very possible

I think the Canucks could even take a smaller contract back if need be.

This. Dear god, this. So many people balk at his 7.5 QO without realizing that the year he put up is not 7.5 worthy. He's 25 so it's in his best interest to take a shorter contract into his prime at less AAV so he can cash in for a long-term contract at 28 or so.

I think this is a return the Canucks can absolutely get behind. props.

I really like Boeser, but I think the Caps are going to pass on this. Moving Lapierre isn't in the cards for us in general, and especially not for another winger. We've got Ovi, Wilson, Mantha and Oshie in the top six right now, so top six goal scoring wing is probably last on our priority list. If we were to make a big move for a forward, it would be more of a play driver and two-way presence.

Miller?

He’s the type of player I’d want, but the ask is going to be too high. Vancouver would almost certainly need one of McMichael or Lapierre and that should be a no go
