If Martinez gets moved he's probably coming home to Detroit, And there's noway Yzerman is dealing Zadina for picks. it will be for a similar aged player and skill set only.

If the Islanders can comfortably fit Martinez under the cap, then yeah sure. If he brings them close to the cap I don't think we should bring him in. I also doubt he'd waive his NTC to come all the way to NY, he's been in the West his entire career.

wdym
Martinez is injured rn and has low trade value
VT had that problem and the isles were going for him, they dropped the ball and didnt offer enough and lost out on PPG player that could really help them out
there situations are similar so i said NYI might me more inclinded or at least there GM because he messed up once and might see a chance to do something else that could make up for it etc.
Pretty Simple so idk what you didnt get there, tho tbf i didnt say 100% the full reasoning

It’s a good thing the isles didn’t give up the reported cost which was a 1st rd pick + . Tarasenko wouldn’t have changed where the isles are in the standing right now.

Regarding the Martinez trade, he’s a 35 year old defenseman with a 5 mill AAV contract. Vegas would need to add a sweetener to the islanders

The islanders would not be in a playoff spot with Tarasenko on the team. Thinking they would be is hilarious, so the isles would be giving up a top 10 pick for Tarasenko? That would suck for the isles.

I am right on Martinez. Isles would decline this unless Vegas adds a sweetener or retains 2 mill

i disagree if the isles had VT and kept leddy they would be in a playoff spot easily
also if they had a coach that didnt screw with the lines every game too
In case you forgot they went to back to back Conference finals they are a good team
when i watch them there are two glaring issues Not LD depth and scoring
VT fixes Scoring for one and keeping leddy or toews wouldve fixed there LD problem

Leddy has been one of the worst defenseman in the NHL this season. Tarasenko wouldn’t have changed anything, the main reason the isles aren’t in a playoff spot is because Trotz broke up the best D pair in hockey to accomodate Zdeno Chara
