That trade doesn’t make boston better, so unfortunately its likely a pass…unless there are a whole bunch of other moves done around the deadline.

Puljujarvi i think makes the trade work. Puljujarvi + Yamo + 1st is a very close to a Chychrun deal.

Reportedly Rob Blake is tossing in Alex Turcotte as part of a package for Jakob Chychrun. That alone would beat anything that Edmonton could muster. Florida could do the same if Bill Zito was willing to move Spencer Knight.

Can ignore the trades all together and just look at the draft capital left with and say this is a failed approach. Even if do upgrade the team threw the trades which I have seriously doubts did that don’t have anything left to be a buyer next several deadlines so you just went ALL in at a point in time plsyoffs aren’t even a guarantee

The point is to acquire young controllable assets. Draft picks aren't going to help McDavid or Draisaitl

Young controllable assets like jp and yam that are better than both debrusk and crouse? Oilers won’t trade klefs contract until he retires which may or may not happen this summer. Keith has another year. Nurse gets his pay bump oilers can’t afford to look at chychrun mid season. Also doesn’t make much sense in a big investment on LD when that’s the deepest part of prospect pool most ready Niemelianen broberg lagesson.

LOL, Chychrun is so overrated on this site. Holland has already had this conversation with Armstrong and broke off talks when Armstrong insisted on including Broberg. And Holloway is arguably a better prospect, so that's a double NO from Edmonton.

That's a massive overpay. Chychrun is hugely overrated on this site.

Turcotte has been a disappointment since the draft. He's not worth as much as Puljujarvi, for instance. He's undersized, 21 years old and has a 0-0-0 stat line in just 8 NHL games so far.

The Arizona and Boston trade are not good for Edmonton. You'll see why on the AZ if you read above. Regarding Boston, DeBrusk is a UFA this summer (99% sure) and he's just not very good at playing hockey. He can shoot, but he's not great at anything else - poor effort, doesn't engage, won't back check or defend, not physical, etc. In short, he's a poor-man's Andreas Athanasiou. And we know how that went.

Yamamoto is not better than either. At his size and skill set he will never be a legit top 6 forward.
